Quiksilver was originally created by Aussie surfers Alan Green and John Law who founded Quiksilver in 1970 at Torquay, the surf capital of Victoria, Australia. They redesigned the surfer's boardshort using a lightweight, durable fabric that dried rapidly and used a Velcro and snap closure. In 1976 the North Shore surf legend Jeff Hakman and his business partner Bob Mcknight bought the rights to produce Quiksilver boardshorts and Quiksilver surf clothing in the USA. They quickly expanded the surf clothing range of Quiksilver and it has now become the world’s largest surf clothing brand and renowned for it's high quality surf gear. Further expansion into ski and snowboarding clothing, wetsuits and the creation of the ladies brand Roxy have also proved to be a huge success for Quiksilver.
